The leaked version of the long awaited Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 is out for a while now. Those who have already installed the test firmware have been looking for a way to root their device on the N7100XXUEM16 firmware. If you happen to be one such person, we bring you the easiest way to root your device and install a custom recovery on it.

Getting Prepared:

• Download Odin and unzip it on your desktop: Odin3-V3.07.Zip
• Download PhilZ Recovery: Philz_touch_5.15.0-N7100.Tar.Md5
• Download the SuperSU rooting package and copy it to your device (internal or external storage): UPDATE-SuperSU-V1.65.Zip
• Download and install either Kies Or Samsung USB Drivers on your computer.
• Enable USB Debugging on your Note 2 with Android 4.3: go to Settings> More> Developer Options, tap the slider on the top of the page and check the box in front of USB Debugging. In case you do not find the developer options, enable it Using This Guide.
• Charge your device to ensure at least 50% battery.

Installing PhilZ CWM Recovery on Note 2:

When you are sure that you have made all required preparations and gathered the tools, follow the following steps to install the customized version of CWM recovery.

1. Boot your Note 2 into Download Mode. To do this, press and hold the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons simultaneously for 2-3 seconds. When you see the warning screen, press the Volume Up key.
2. Launch Odin and connect your device to PC via USB cable.
3. Wait till the ID:COM port turns Blue and you see “Added!!” message on Odin.
4. Now click the PDA button and select “philz_touch_5.15.0-n7100.tar.md5“.
5. Then click the Start button and wait till it is flashed to your device.
6. Finally, you will get PASS!! message at Odin and your Note 2 will reboot automatically.

When your device boots up, it will have PhilZ CWM Recovery installed on it. Congrats!

Rooting Galaxy Note 2 on Android 4.3:

1. Make sure you have copied the SuperSU zip file on your Note 2.
2. Now boot it into Recovery Mode. To do this, press Volume Up, Home and Power keys at the same time for 4-6 seconds. Keep the keys pressed till you enter the PhilZ recovery main menu.
3. Go to “install zip from sdcard” option and select “UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65.zip”.
4. Select “yes” to confirm installation and wait till it is flashed.
5. Now return back to main menu in recovery and select “reboot system now”.

Your Galaxy Note 2 will boot now. When your device becomes functional, open app drawer an look for a new app named “SupeSU” there. If you can see this app, your device is rooted. To verify proper root access, install Root Checker app from the Play Store and run it.

The term is an abbreviated form of Consumer Software Customization and denotes to a specific geographical region or carrier branding. While most features of a specific Galaxy device are common globally, there are a bunch of other features that may or not be available to the end users in a particular country and region.

Every Android device from Samsung has a folder called csc under system directory. This folder contains some XML files that keep the configuration codes for country and carrier based customization options. If you have root access on your Samsung phone or tablet, you can access this directory and edit those XML file to enable or disable the features that are available or unavailable on your device. In other words, by editing the XML files present in thecsc folder, you can easily personalize your device by adding features like your native language pack, screen rotation control, infinite scrolling on home screen, turn on/off camera shutter sound and so on.

Enabling Secret CSC Features

So, if you have root access on your device and have installed a root browser app on it too, here is what you have to do to enable CSC features.

1. Launch the root file manager app and grant it root permission when prompted.
2. Go to system> csc directory on your device and look for a file named feature.xml. If you do not find this file, look for others.xml.
3. Now tap on feature/others.xml and find <FeatureSet>.

4. Make sure to add your CSC feature comment line (you can find some of them below) between <FeatureSet> and </FeatureSet> otherwise it would not work.
5. After adding/editing the lines, save your changes.

Samsung Galaxy J geleakt

Bei Samsung gibt demnächst mal wieder ein neues Smartphone-Modell der GALAXY-Reihe. Denn nun ist in Japan das Foto des kommenden Samsung GALAXY J aufgetaucht. Was im ersten Moment wie ein buntes Budget-Smartphone aussieht, entpuppt sich dann doch als echtes High-End. Denn das Samsung GALAXY J wird mit einem 5'' FullHD-Display und einem Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 kommen. Macht sich Samsung jetzt schon hausinterne Konkurrenz, denn schließlich hat das S4 fast die identischen Spezifikationen.

Das nun aufgetauchte Foto des kommenden Samsung GALAXY J ist für den japanischen Provider NTT Docomo gedacht. Die Maße sind dem S4 ähnlich, nur dass das Design etwas eckiger wirkt und einem gerade vorgestellten Konkurrenzmodell doch sehr ähnelt. Doch im Gegensatz du diesem Modell ist das Samsung GALAXY J ein echtes High-End Smartphone mit allerneuester Technik. Obwohl es im ersten Moment gar nicht danach aussieht.

Das Samsung GALAXY J kommt mit einem 5'' FullHD-Display, unter der Haube werkelt der Snapdragon 800, dieser bekommt Unterstützung von satten 3GB RAM. Scheint so, als ob Samsung diese Arbeitsspeichergröße als Standard definieren will. Jedoch muss man feststellen, dass Samsung sich mit dem GALAXY J selbst Konkurrenz macht, das S4 mit gleicher Größe ist etwa gleich ausgestattet und nennt sich Flaggschiff. Doch spätestens seit dem Note 3 ist das S4 sicher nicht mehr das Flaggschiff.

Samsung GALAXY J das neue Flaggschiff?

Das Samsung GALAXY J soll vor allem die junge Käuferschicht ansprechen, wie sonst ist die Farbwahl bei den Modellen zu erklären. Denn es soll in den Farben Grün, Blau, Gelb und Rot erhältlich sein. Das knallige Farben sich gut verkaufen, zeigte bereits Nokia. Über den Preis und den Samsung GALAXY J Release Termin ist aber noch nichts bekannt.
