T-Mobile offering the Nexus 7 LTE and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 for $0 on contract

T-Mobile has been on a roll lately with its ‘Uncarrier’ strategy. Today, the company extended its ‘Un-carrier’ plans to tablets by offering some tempting data plans meant for tablets. The carrier also revealed that it will be carrying two of the hugely popular Android tablets in the market right now – the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.

The carrier will be offering the tablets for a $0 down-payment. The Nexus 7 (2013 edition) with LTE will set users back by $16 a month over a period of 24-months. This will include 200MB of free monthly 3G/LTE data for the lifetime of the tablet. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will set users back by $19 a month for the same period.

Potential buyers can also top-up their data and enjoy 500MB of data for$5 for a one-day pass, or a weekly pass of a gig of data for $10.

The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 can be purchased right away, with the Nexus 7 being available from November 20th.

T-Mobile offering Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 for $0 upfront cost on contract

As part of its “Uncarrier” strategy, T-Mobile will be giving away the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (and Google’s new Nexus 7) for $0 upfront payment, as part of its initiative to let consumers buy tablets and pay the full price for the device in monthly installments. The Tab 2 10.1 will set you back $19 every month, and you’ll also get 200MB of free monthly 3G/LTE data for the lifetime of the tablet, another feature of the carrier’s impressive Uncarrier plan.

The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 sports a 10.1-inch PLS LCD display of 1280 x 800 resolution, 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Plus processor, 1GB of RAM, 3.15-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing camera, 16GB of storage and a microSD card slot (up to 32GB), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, LTE and A-GPS connectivity, a 7,000mAh battery, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, upgradeable to Android 4.2.2.

T-Mobile extends 'Un-carrier' plans to tablets

Wireless carrier T-Mobile has added tablets to its "Un-carrier" initiative that aims to drop monthly contracts in favor of plans allowing users to pay for the full price of the device in monthly installments.

Tablets running through T-Mobile's 4G LTE network will receive a free 200 MB of data every month for the life of the device. Consumers seeking more data upgrade for a monthly fee.

"Carriers figured out a long time ago that they could make money - a lot of money - by forcing customers into restrictive, overpriced data plans," says T-Mobile CEO John Legere in a statement. "We changed it for smartphones and we're changing it for tablets."

The company will also start offering tablets at full price, payable in monthly installments. For example, the Google Nexus 7 will be available starting November 20 for $16 a month over 24 months, while Samsung's Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will go for $19 in installments.

T-Mobile will also carry the iPad Air, announced during an event hosted by Apple on Tuesday. Consumers can snag a 16 GB version with no money down for $26.25 in 24 monthly installments. Tablets with larger storage will require down payments starting at $99.99.

The tablet plans are the company's latest effort to shake up a wireless industry that offers subsidized devices requiring two-year contracts. Over the past year, T-Mobile has introduced plans where users can purchase an unsubsidized smartphone and pay the full price over monthly installments.

The company has also unveiled early upgrade plans, a more expensive option to secure a new device as soon as six months after the consumer's initial purchase.

T-Mobile announces the Samsung Galaxy Light

T-Mobile has officially announced the Samsung Galaxy Light, an entry-level Android 4.2.2 smartphone that popular leaker evleaks revealed via Twitter as the ”Garda” a few days back. The specs of the device match the Galaxy S3 mini’s for the most part, but the 1.4GHz quad-core processor is likely a Snapdragon 200/400 chip to enable LTE support, and as mentioned above, you get Android 4.2.2 out of the box.
Other specs include a 4-inch WVGA (480×800) display, 1GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel camera, 8GB of built-in storage and a microSD slot, and a 1,800mAh battery. T-Mobile hasn’t revealed a launch date or pricing, but in the case of the latter, we wouldn’t be surprised if T-Mobile gives it away for as low as $0.99 on a two-year contract, to compete with AT&T’s recently launched Galaxy S3 mini.

T-Mobile announces the Samsung Galaxy Light

Alcatel OneTouch Evolve also launches today

T-Mobile US has announced plans to launch the Samsung Galaxy Light, a new entry-level 4G LTE handset. Looking like a cross between a Galaxy S3 Mini and Galaxy S4 Mini, the Galaxy Light packs a 4-inch WVGA display, a quad-core 1.4GHz processor and 1GB of RAM, and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. There's 8GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD card, and the phone ships with a 1800mAh battery and a 5-megapixel camera.

So nothing much to write home about, but T-Mo should be targeting a low price point for the device when it launches at some undisclosed point in the future.

Meanwhile today sees the launch of Alcatel's affordable OneTouch Evolve on T-Mobile — yours for $28 down, with 24 monthly payments of $3.

T-Mobile Not Honoring 30% Off Coupon Used on Galaxy Gear

There had to have been a few people that couldn’t stop themselves from picking up a new Galaxy Gear watch from T-Mobile, when it was discovered that an online coupon for 30% off was usable, bringing the the device down to just $210. Usually priced at $299, the $90 off seemed like a pretty good deal. Unfortunately, T-Mobile felt that it was a little too sweet of a deal, and has now sent out an email to all of those who ordered Gear, stating that the incorrect price was listed on the device. T-Mobile went ahead and cancelled all of the orders and made sure that your credit cards weren’t charged.
Here is the message sent out to those that ordered using the coupon code:
Dear T-Mobile Customer,
Our apologies. You recently ordered an item that was listed at an incorrect price: the Samsung Galaxy Gear™. We are unable to fulfill this transaction. Rest assured, your credit card has not been charged.
You can reorder the Samsung Galaxy Gear at the correct price here.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.  Thank you for being a T-Mobile customer.  We truly appreciate your business.
Thank you,
T-Mobile Customer Care
Did you place an order that was affected? Weak sauce.

T-Mobile cancels all Galaxy Gear orders that used 30 percent discount coupon

When T-Mobile launched the Galaxy Gear, there was a nice little coupon code that let people get a 30 percent discount on the smartwatch, which naturally prompted many to take advantage as the standard price of the Gear isn’t exactly what you would call sensible. However, the deal might have been a bit too much for the carrier to fulfill, so it’s now cancelling all orders that used the coupon code. No, I’m not kidding.
T-Mobile has sent an email to all those who ordered using the coupon code, saying that the Gear was listed at “an incorrect price,” which is basically a way of saying that the price was listed correctly, but the carrier doesn’t really care. Here’s the message in its entirety:
Dear T-Mobile Customer,
Our apologies. You recently ordered an item that was listed at an incorrect price: the Samsung Galaxy Gear™. We are unable to fulfill this transaction. Rest assured, your credit card has not been charged.
You can reorder the Samsung Galaxy Gear at the correct price here.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.  Thank you for being a T-Mobile customer.  We truly appreciate your business.
Thank you,
T-Mobile Customer Care
Well, what do you think? Will you be trusting T-Mobile and its coupon codes again?
