Apples iOS boss quits after 23 years Apples iOS boss quits after 23 years
According to his LinkedIn profile, Henri is no longer an employee at Apple where he worked as a software engineer before being shifted to the iOS division in 2015 where he served as vice president of engineering until his retirement last week.
Mr. Lamiraux apperaed in many WWDC events during his stay at Apple, getting popular with App Store app developers in 2012.
It is not clear why Henri Lamiraux left Apple but we can confirm that Apple has also ted work on the iOS 8, without Lamiraux ofcourse.
Meanwhile, in another news, Apple legend Steve Wozniak said he wished Apple and Google were partners.
“Sometimes I say ‘Go to Joe’s Diner’ and (Siri) doesn’t know where Joe’s Diner is. And very often usually I find out that Android does.
“I believe you should have a world where you’ve got to license something at a fair price. There are good things I see on Samsung phones that I wish were in my iPhone. I wish Apple would use them and could use them, and I don’t know if Samsung would stop us.
“For about three or four years I’ve been talking about organic LED displays that could be theoretically printed on plastic, wrapped and folded. It could be on the inside of your arm and then when you flip your arm up it could actually flip open into your own hand. I want a full smartphone-like capability on my wrist. The trouble is the more I think about it, I don’t want the small size.”
Wozniak later admitted that he doesn’t know much about the business issues which could prevent such an Apple-Google partnership from happening.

Back in the 1970s, Steve Jobs met Steve Wozniak, and the rest, if you like, is history.

The two became firm friends and although Steve Jobs often gets the credit for Apple's success, it was Woz, as he's known, who was the brains behind the silicon.

He spoke to the BBC's technology programme Click.

Apple-Google partnership
Computers are on the verge of understanding human gestures and speech, but it has not yet been perfected. Wozniak says he often finds Android human speech recognition software is more accurate than Apple's Siri.

Steve Wozniak
"Sometimes I say 'Go to Joe's Diner' and [Siri] doesn't know where Joe's Diner is. And very often usually I find out that Android does."

Wozniak says this is due to Android's access to Google's search engine.

"That is actually the future of intelligence probably for computers getting smarter and getting artificial intelligence. I wish to God that Apple and Google were partners in the future."

But how likely would a partnership between the two companies be?

"I don't know. If I were there, it would be pretty likely. I'm probably wrong, there's probably an awful lot I don't know about the business concerns and one thing you've got to remember is a company has always got to make money," says Wozniak.

Encouraging openness and sharing information and methods would benefit everyone to develop the best technology, Wozniak says.

"I believe you should have a world where you've got to license something at a fair price. There are good things I see on Samsung phones that I wish were in my iPhone. I wish Apple would use them and could use them, and I don't know if Samsung would stop us," he says.

"I wish everybody just did a lot of cross-licensing and sharing the good technology, all our products would be better, we'd go further. I do wish they were more compatible."

Better gadgets
Wozniak believes more sharing between companies would lead to developments in bigger and better technology in wearable tech, like smartwatches and augmented reality glasses.

"I want a full smartphone-like capability on my wrist. The trouble is the more I think about it, I don't want the small size.

"We're just at the verge of having products that have foldability and flexibility," he says.

"For about three or four years I've been talking about organic LED displays that could be theoretically printed on plastic, wrapped and folded," he says.

Steve Wozniak tells Click how realistic he thinks he has been portrayed has been in films.
"But think outside of the box. It could be on the inside of your arm and then when you flip your arm up it could actually flip open into your own hand."

Despite his legacy, Wozniak is not seen as an Apple insider these days. But he is still beloved by many of the Mac faithful.

"His comments aren't influential in any shape or form. He was one of the founders of Apple and walked away, so the fan boys love him. He is free to say anything he likes," says Stuart Miles, founder of technology news website Pocket-lint.

"I don't think he has any insight or influence into the inner workings of how Apple works. But nonetheless he is a fascinating storyteller," he says.

Samsung Galaxy S3 outpaces iPhone 5S, 5C in touch accuracy

The Samsung Galaxy S3 performed notably better than Apple's latest handsets in terms of overall screen accuracy, according to a new study.

Apple's iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C have a bit of improving to do on the touch-accuracy front, according to new data from OptoFidelity, a Finland-based tech test and measurement company.
OptoFidelity said that it used its own Touch Panel Performance Tester to measure the iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, and Samsung Galaxy S3. The device uses a robot to "touch" exact coordinates on a screen. It then measures the coordinates of the touch device to see how closely they matched.

According to the data (PDF), the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C had significant fail rates, especially around the edges and toward the top of their displays. The Samsung Galaxy S3, meanwhile, was largely accurate across the middle of the screen, but had errors around the edges.
From there, OptoFidelity turned its attention to the virtual keyboard on the three devices and again found that Samsung's device is far more accurate in its response to touch inputs.
"Because the touch accuracy is more even in Galaxy S3 than in iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, you get a lot less typing errors, and letters which are close to the edge are working better," OptoFidelity said in its report. "You can also test this by tapping letters on the edge and typing long text messages."
OptoFidelity didn't say why it didn't include the Galaxy S4 in its study.

Samsung Galaxy S III beats iPhone 5s, 5c in touch accuracy test

In our tech world, newer is almost always advertised as better, even if the truth is a bit different. Such might be the case in a new experiment that shows the newly launched iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c squarely beaten in terms of touch screen accuracy by Samsung‘s old flagship, the Galaxy S III.
opto-fidelity-galaxy-s3-iphone-5s-5c
That last sentence is bound to ruffle the feathers of Apple supporters, but the claim isn’t without some amount of scientific backing. The experiment was performed by OptoFidelity, a Finnish company that specializes in test and measurement automation, particularly in machine vision and digital imaging systems, including touch panels. The test involved the company’s Touch Panel Performance Tester and a robot arm that touched the devices at specific points on their screens.
The results showed the the iPhone 5s and 5c performed quite equally and equally bad. Failure rates on Apple‘s latest smartphones increased around the edges and near the top. The Galaxy S III on the other hand, had an almost uniform accurate performance across the middle area of the device. It was not perfect, however, and had some errors near the edges, similar to the iPhones. As a consequence, touch input via the virtual keyboard was also more accurate on the Samsung smartphone, resulting in a better typing experience.
The results of the experiment, if one give credence to it, is quite interesting due to the fact that the Galaxy S III is more than a year old and definitely does not sport the latest technology. It is curious, however, that OptoFidelity did not test the latest iPhone models against the slightly older but still more recent Galaxy S 4.
