Samsung Electronics Germany recently had a really fun promotion to go hand-in-hand with the launch of the GALAXY S4 zoom. On July 25th, they began a campaign on Facebook where users were encouraged to submit up to 10 photos from their personal lives to be printed in a photo album. The mission? To break the Guinness World Records™ for The Largest Photobook in the World. They calculated that in order to do this, they would need at least 10,000 photos.
In the course of this 10-day campaign, over 10 million Facebook users visited the page, and roughly 36,000 photos were submitted. Out of the bunch, 28,000 were selected to be printed in the 5m x 8m, 16-page album. On September 7th, the Guinness World Records™ paid a visit to the Berlin Museum for Communication (Museum für Kommunikation Berlin), where the album was on display, and officially crowned it “The Largest Photobook in the World.”
Through this enormous event, Samsung Germany was able to create buzz and awareness around the new GALAXY S4 zoom.
If you want to take a peek at the photo album yourself, you can either see it in person at the Berlin Museum for Communication (Museum für Kommunikation Berlin), or visit the Facebook page. Be sure to also check out this video that chronicles how the massive photo album came together!
