As we already knew that MediaTek had announced the MT6592, which is the world’s first “real” octa-core processor. Finally, the benchmark score of MediaTek MT6592 had been revealed.
MediaTek MT6592 is an octa-core processor based on Cortex-A7 and 28nm architecture. All eight cores of MediaTek MT6592 are able to function at the same time. The MediaTek MT6592 is the “real” octa-core processor because the Exynos 5 Octa has two sets of quad-core processors.
A prototype handset with 1GB of RAM, 720p HD display, 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor and Mali-450 GPU scores 25,496 points on AnTuTu version 4.0. It seems like the MediaTek MT6592 is still far away from Snapdragon 600 and Snapdragon 800.
MediaTek had confirmed that the MT6592 can be clocked up to 2GHz of frequency. The benchmark result shows that the prototype is powered by MediaTek MT6592 on the lowest frequency, 1.7GHz. If the MediaTek MT6592 is clocked up to 2GHz, then it should be no problem for it to score more than 30,000 points.
