The company J'son & Partners Consulting presented the main results of the analysis of investment transactions typical of the world's major players in the telecommunications sector in 2010-2012., Where it is noted that the performed statistical analysis of transactions shows an increase in the activity of operators in the market M & A, in spite of the slowdown in post-crisis years. Dynamics of increase in the number of transactions is clearly seen (in the analysis of strategies by geographic region) in emerging markets such as the Asia-Pacific region and a stable leader in North America.
The largest number of deals were made in the sector of providing traditional telecommunications services. In a number of regions considered there is a different distribution of investment. Thus, the strategy of Asian operators developed countries (Japan, South Korea) to the development of value added services (Value-added-services) in connection with more than 60% of the deals were signed with companies, application developers, cloud services, content developers and t . etc.
A review of mergers and acquisitions carried out 62 major telecommunications operators in both developed and emerging markets, we can conclude that the predominantly investment strategies companies are divided into the following categories:
access to new markets;
expansion of business areas (the structure of transactions in terms of business lines is quite similar to the markets in question - the largest number of transactions is in the provision of traditional telecommunications services);
purchase of certain assets more quickly to the market with a particular technology, often to launch LTE network and 4G.
